Estimate the work behind the deliverable
Two projects called “bilingual catalogue” can require very different effort. One starts with approved product records and paired documents. Another starts with conflicting spreadsheets, unclear units and translations nobody owns. The visible page count does not reveal that difference.
A scope should name the intended result and the assumptions that make the estimate reasonable. Faith Forge Labs discusses price and timing for the actual engagement rather than publish a universal package for every Uruguay-connected project.
Content readiness changes development work
Identify who supplies the service descriptions, product facts and approved language versions. Cleaning up records, reconciling duplicates and reviewing translations are real activities. Decide whether they are client responsibilities, part of the engagement or separate specialist work.
A representative sample can expose the difficult cases before the full collection is priced. It cannot guarantee that the remaining material contains no surprises, so the agreement should explain how newly discovered issues are assessed.
A connection includes more than its successful request
Provider access, supported features, test arrangements and failure handling affect an integration estimate. If the account cannot perform the operation assumed in the proposal, the project may need a different boundary. A bounded technical assessment can resolve that uncertainty before a larger commitment.
Separate delivery from recurring obligations
Hosting, subscriptions, ongoing maintenance and content review should be identified explicitly. Their ownership and payment arrangements may differ from the development work. Migration, release coordination and staff training also need an agreed place in the scope.
Handle changes as decisions
When a new requirement emerges, record what changed, why it matters and the effect on the current plan. The options may be to replace a lower-priority item, extend the work or defer the new requirement. Quietly adding it makes both cost and acceptance harder to understand.
The first conversation should establish enough context to choose a sensible next step. Describe the task, or use project planning to identify the missing dependencies.
